Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.

Handwritten diaries in four volumes. Also included are photocopies of the materials. Adams mentions his youth and starts his diaries in 1830. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1836 and subsequently lived in Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa, and came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.

Charlotte H. Evans Adams and Henry A. Orme letters

Handwritten letter dated 1938 in which Adams states that she heard Martin Harris testify to the authenticity of the Book of Mormon in a speech given at the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1870. Also included is a letter by Henry A. Orme in which he outlines the life of Charlotte Adams, his grandmother.

The contents of this collection represent the research notes of Dale Adams regarding several important events in the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In many cases, photocopies of original sources are included in the collection. The main focus of the collection is the Ohio period of LDS history, with particular attention being paid to Solomon Spaulding (or Spalding) and D. Philastus Hurbut (or Hurlburt).

George L. Adams interview

Scope and Contents Transcript of an interview conducted by Craig Niederriter on 20 March 1985 for the Ray Hillam project. Adams in the 259th quartermaster battalion out of Pleasant Grove, Utah. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, and he told of feeling very lonely and homesick. He talked about his feelings when many men were killed around him and about how he dealt with stress. He also described his other activities in Vietnam where he also served as a perimeter guard and on ammunition supply...
